I took Anna-Elizabeth in for her one month well baby visit this afternoon. It took 1.5 hrs. Ugh. There were no kidding 50 people there at least. Granted my Dr. is in practice with 3 other doctors but it seems it is the time of year for school physicals and so everyone in the Rio Grande Valley was having theirs today. :)

Anna-Elizabeth was:

10 lbs 10 oz
22.5 inches

Growing like a weed I say. Everything was good. He seems to think that the mark on her forehead is not a birthmark but a storkbite like the one she has on her eye and she has several on her neck (and Daniel, her brother that she looks like, was born with the same storkbites in the same places, minus the forehead). I had noticed last week that she look tongue tied and he confirmed that suspicion. The standard practice in the ''old days'' was to clip the fraenulum, but from all I had been able to find the current thought is to wait and see if it has any effects. I also kept reading about the clipping still being done but mostly because of issues with nursing and latching issues. Well you can know that Miss Piggy is having no issues with latching on at all!!! LOL He looked and said that he saw no need to clip it at this point. He believes that if it is thin enough for him to be able to clip it and there not be much blood (which is the case he said would be with Anna-Elizabeth) then it is thin enough to stretch in the year or so ahead. We of course will keep an eye on it and do what is necessary if it begins to effect speech but at this point nothing will be pursued.

In other news Anna-Elizabeth is becoming so aware. In the last week she has started having more stretches of awake time. She is looking around and beginning to do that ''intensive focus'' thing (where they lock in on an objet and just STARE) , and I cannot say for sure, but there have been a couple of times that I would say she has smiled in response to our voices talking to her. Last week as I was tucking the boys in Nathan asked if she could lie down with him (lie/lay...you pick, I don't remember the correct one...heh) for a few minutes. I laid her down on his pillow and he snuggled in beside her and she just looked up at him and gazed as he talked to her so sweetly. That has been the most amazing thing, seeing how my boys have interacted with a *baby sister*. Daniel loves to hold her and ask to repeatedly throughout the day. And Elijah calls her NANA BEETH or "MY baby dirl" So so precious.

I cannot believe that a month has already passed, she will be half a year old before I know it and these sweet baby days will be a memory. = (

Katie is tongue-tied too, we are waiting to see if it's a problem or not. So far it's ok.

yep, my little goober is also tongue-tied, like her daddy. we're doing the wait-and-see thing, too. so far, no probs with feeding, and we have another year of so before worrying about speech.
